NEW ADVENTURES!!

So much has been happening to me lately.

A couple months ago, I was waiting line for the grand opening of H&M with my friends Glora, Samantha and Candice. Somehow we got on the topic of styling and how much fun the fashion industry is and my beautiful friend Samantha goes "OH I have a friend who is a photographer, you should meet him". Well that's what I did, and everything has changed! THANKS SAM!!

So Erick and I have been working together a month and I have already had amazing photoshoot experiences! My first shoot was with his friend Crissa, it was so much fun shopping for a photoshoot. My second shoot was the first with Erick, and we managed to land a possible deal with Twirl Boutique to do their ad campaign!!

So here are a couple images that we produced with the amazing models and stellar hair and makeup artists, and wonderful gown designer Paul Hazlett :)

Enjoy

FLARIDA!!!

Yes Flarida! Our recent trip to, as Bin puts it "The Most Southern Yankee State", was wonderful. It was so great to see family. Bin was like a kid with his brothers, it was so cute but also made me feel bad that we live so far away. It was great to see is sisters and the babies and the parents and the aunts and uncles and Grandparents. We had the privelege to go to Epcot (my first time) Magic Kingdom and Blizzard Beach. It was Bin's dad's first time in 30 years back.. He was kicked out and had his face plastered in security of Magic Kingdom for a while due to his non Disney actions (SHAKING MY HEAD AT ROY!!) It was so great to see the kid's faces light up when they got to meet Minnie and Mickey and the Disney Princesses. It was also so great that we got RAINED on for most of our visit. It was also a great time to get to know each other on a non stressful and fun level. Disney is the happiest place after all.

And Sunday we spent the day with Roy's mom and his siblings. What a day! We attended church across the street from the BEAUTIFUL Orlando temple with Sarah and Dan and then drove to the coast to spend the afternoon with the rest of the Tolman siblings. I LOVE them all!

All and all it was great to be with Bin's family and I definately think our relationship is going the way it should..... FINALLY

Brand Loyalty

Today we are going to discuss the importance of Brand Loyalty :)

In school we are taught OFTEN about the importance of building your brand and making sure you have loyal fan of your brand. Well over the past few weeks that topic has been in the front of my mind.
Don't laugh, it is VERY important! And sometimes it is best to say loyal to your regular brands.

We went to Florida for a few days a week agoish. In our trip this lesson of brand loyalty was confirmed, yes I learn while doing hands on things. Here is what happened...

Brand Loyalty Case Study 1:
So when we go to Florida, we tend to rent cars from Enterprise, I LOVE their logo and I love the discount that we receive by using a code that a high school friend of mine gave us. We have gone a few times and are very happy with the service and the price and the car, the even give us free upgrades occasionally (Orlando is their biggest location so they have a TON of cars, so always ask for the upgrade, but only at the non airport location FYI). The boys run all over the place to help us and are super friendly I HEART ENTERPRISE!!
WELL BIN (not me AT ALL) decided that it was "dishonest" using a code that wasn't ours, so he insisted on using one from his job. Okay I can deal with that, as long as it's my love Enterprise or my mistress Hertz (also stellar service providers). Well the best deal he found was with Alamo. RED FLAG NEW BRAND!! Well the deal was AWESOME! $240 for a mid size for 6 days which included insurance and tax! I was willing to give the new brand a try. Well when we got there we tried to enter in our code at the kiosk and what do you know our reservation got cancelled some how. REALLY long story short, after talking to several people we were "SO LUCKY" to be able to reserve a COMPACT, for are you ready $465 NOT including TAXES!!! JERKS!!! SO I will never go outside of my loyalties to Enterprise and Hertz AGAIN

Case Study 2:
I LOVE SOUTHWEST!! Not just because my wonderful brother in law is employed by them, but because their seats are so comfy! No that's not the ONLY reason, the flight crew is so fun and almost always love their job, FREE luggage check in, and SNACKS!!! WELL this time we didn't fly on Southwest (again NOT my doing!) We flew with US Airways or whatever. So we go to check in the line was INTENSE!! There was a poor Indian man and his mother who were waiting in lines for 2 hours!! The check in people were so unhelpful to him AND to everyone else! Obviously understaffed (some guy left without his boarding pass OOPS) and obviously CRANKY! It cost us $50 to check in our bag, $100 on the way back! NO snacks were given and when I questioned the flight crew they got SNIPPY!! AND the way back NO snacks were even offered!! WHAT THE HECK it's a LONG flight to not have munchies :(

I'm sure both companies are okay, and None of my loyalties are sponsored, although they probably should dang it!

AND finally the BEST BRAND AWARD is given to DISNEY!!! Every one knows the amazing mouse ears, they are like the golden arches of McDonald's. My baby nieces and nephews KNEW what Cinderella's castle was and my little 4 year old one Gabby was VERY serious when she informed me of Cinderella AND Minnie Mouse. EXCELLENT JOB WALT EXCELLENT JOB!!

That concludes our lesson for today :) Be loyal to your brands, your don't get screwed when you do :)

My stories

My creative writing stories :) I hope you enjoy.

My Story
My story is complex. Being born and growing up in a small town, anxious for more. Moving from city to city, Las Vegas and Salt Lake City became stopping off points. Learning and deciding were what I take from those experiences. New York City was where I lived, fell in love, and found passion, passion for life, passion for family, passion for a career, and passion for love. Phoenix was smoldering. Love was rekindled, friendships were lost and appreciation was learned. Idaho was frigid. Family and friends were reconnected, but so were the fights. New Jersey was where I became me. Love went as the waves did; constantly coming and going. I thought he was the one, but he wasn’t, I thought he was the other one, but he wasn’t either. Friends became family, putting my broken heart back together with laughter, late night ice cream trips and weekend holidays. Families became lifetime friends. The waves stopped, and I met the one, my heart stopped and joined his. Together we live, together we love, and together we are complex.

My dad’s story is troubled. Always struggling to find his way, always trying to be what he wanted, but what his parents wanted him to be. Third of nine made him always feel left out. The only man in a house of women set him as far away as ever, even animals were women. He always looked for love, and acceptance. He had it all along but never knew it.

One person’s story begins with love and another’s begins with sorrow and pain. Everyone’s story contain moments of pure joy, moments of complete anger, moments of tears and moments of bright smiles. Stories are very different, but also, at the core, the same.

Your story is cloudy, cloudy in your eyes. You never see how good things are. You never see how much you are loved. You put the blame on others. You push friends aside. You never realize that you are worth so much more; you are worth immeasurable love, worthy of laughter, and of all things possible and even those that aren’t.

My mom’s story is filled with ups and downs. She started her life in middle of nowhere Utah. The youngest of four and the sparkle in her father eyes. She grew up in California, still the sparkle in her father’s eyes, but also a strong, but scared young woman. Moving all over the massive state from the end to end, she was forced to make friends, but then lose friends a year later. Finally settling down to racial fights, outdoor school, and her first love, her life didn’t stand still. Her marriage to her soldier brought her from the warm beaches to the blistering cold mountains. Together they had love, they had laughter and they had babies. Everything changes, their laughter changed to yelling, and love changed to hatred.

Valerie and Ed’s story started in church. He was a dashing, proud and charming young man. She was a beautiful, shy, quite and happy young woman. He opened his mouth to talk about his love for the Air Force and his respect for J.R.R. Tolkien. Her world stopped and her heart became alive. They shared a quiet, intimate first date talking and sharing. They shared wild, crazy dates in Disneyland. They shared their life and their vows. She was daddy’s girl but became Eddy’s wife.

What happens when all your joys, dreams and laughter suddenly gets taken away. When your heart feels like it was ripped out and shattered?
What happens when the love you felt, the life you needed and the family you created is suddenly gone?
What happens when you realize the lifetime you lived was built on a lie?
I say pick up the pieces, carry on with love and laughter and remember that you are worth everything and so much more.

Parisian Goodbye

That morning was cool, crisp and tranquil.
The streets of Paris were just waking up.
The smell of freshly washed cobblestone, cigarettes and urine were in the air.
Store windows were glistening in the new day sun.
The morning would have been one to spend in our pillow covered bed.

“Why are we standing out here and not in bed” I ask myself
How did we get to this point?
How did I let myself push my sweet Émilie to leave with our beautiful Aurélie?
What happened to my love?

In my 27 years I have never been so ashamed.
A father should be happy to see his baby girl.
He should be captivated by his four year old daughter’s stories of being a princess.
A father should put his career at the door when his child needs a hero.
My precious Aurélie, forgive me.

Her elegant style eludes her confidence. Her 25 year old heart was so kind and gentle.
Her mesmerizing brown eyes captivated this rough actor’s soul.
Her sensual lips entice me to kiss them, and to watch her speak.
The sweet tantalizing smell of her hair teases me as it waves in the wind
My radiant Émilie, forgive me

My heart is broken, my family is leaving.
My mind is playing a montage of memories, a life on fast forward.
I feel like an Alaskan night, cold, lonely, and desolate.
Will I be able to repair my love, reclaim Émilie’s trust?

This cool exterior of a seemingly presumptuous man is all an act.
My strong face is damaged and hiding in shame.
My bold jacket is covering a shattered heart.
Standing on the street corner while they leave
This image of a crumpling family will be imprinted on my mind like a photograph.
